UPDATE: PACs may take place in the Mairie rather than the Tribunal d'Instance depending on your region. Contact your local town hall here in order to double check (will always be faster than calling the prefecture!!): https://lannuaire.service-public.fr/
For those of you not in the know, the PACS, or pacte civil de solidarité, or civil solidarity pact, is essentially one way to formalize your domestic partnership with your significant other. Although not as serious as a marriage, it is a contractual commitment and comes with various benefits, including tax breaks and it’s also the first step to getting a relationship visa in France (de facto relationship visa France) if you are not from the EU.
